From Water Trails to Clean Shores: IRENA Engages Citizens in European Mobility Week

IRENA – Istrian Regional Energy Agency, once again actively participated in European Mobility Week, held in September under the slogan “Mobility for All”. The initiative aims to promote the development of inclusive, accessible and sustainable transport solutions for all citizens.
In collaboration with the City of Labin, IRENA organized the traditional hiking event “Water Trails,” where around 40 participants from across the Labin area followed a 5-kilometre route from Loža through Piazza San Marco, Podvinje and Negri Cave, all the way to Rabac and the historic Teleferika site. Guided by members of the Hiking Club Skitaci, participants enjoyed an active and environmentally friendly way to explore their local heritage.
A special highlight of this year’s programme was the eco-cleaning action at Teleferika, carried out within the framework of the Interreg Italy–Croatia project AWASTER – Adopting WASTE as Resource, led by IRENA. The clean-up resulted in the collection of around twenty bags of waste, drawing attention to the importance of shared responsibility for public spaces and the added value of projects that promote circular economy principles.
Through these activities, IRENA reaffirmed its commitment to the goals of European Mobility Week – encouraging active mobility, environmental awareness and community participation. The Agency extends its gratitude to all participants and to the City of Labin for their collaboration and support in organizing the event.
