Final Conference of the project RESISTANCE

The final conference of the RESISTANCE project was held on Monday, June 5, 2023, in Split at the Radisson Blu Resort hotel, organized by the Healthy City of Split, the partner responsible for the communication activities of the project.

The final conference of the RESISTANCE project was held on Monday, June 5, 2023, in Split at the Radisson Blu Resort hotel, organized by the Healthy City of Split, the partner responsible for the communication activities of the project.

This event is also elected as European Maritime Day (EMD) in My Country to support ocean action, awareness, and a sustainable blue economy across Europe.

The Conference was opened with an introductory speech by Andrea Russo, PhD, president of the Healthy City Association, and Mr. Piergiorgio Vasi, representative of the Emilia-Romagna Region.

The results of the project were presented by the project manager, Ms. Andrijana Dedić, representative of the Municipality of Podstrana, Ms. Zorana Škare, representative of Healthy City, and Giulio Pojana, PhD, from Ca' Foscari University in Venice and Carmela Vacarro, PhD, from the University of Ferrara.

Mr. Lovro Jurišić, the Project Manager of Interreg V A Italy – Croatia, Joint Secretariat, presented the new Interreg Italy - Croatia Program.

This was also an opportunity to present other cluster projects of the Interreg Italy - Croatia program, so Marin Ordulj, PhD, from the Department of Marine Studies of the University of Split presented the HATCH project, and Mr. Martin Bućan, Head Assistant of the Administrative Department for Economy, EU Funds and Agriculture of the Split-Dalmatia County presented the CREATE project.

The Conference ended with a workshop, “Maritime Spatial Planning as a tool for the rational use of marine space”​​​​​​​ led by Ms. Jelena Kurtović Mrčelić, representative of Public Institution Sea and Karst. Ms. Marina Marković, the expert in Coastal Area M anagement, representative of UNEP/MAP-PAP/RAC, Croatia, and Mr. Giulio Pojana, PhD, from Ca' Foscari University in Venice, participated in the panel discussion.

The Conference brought together various participants, including project partners, experts, scientists from the field of maritime spatial planning, representatives of environmental associations and local and regional authorities from Italy and Croatia.
