Cross-Fertilisation Event

On 25 March 2026, PRESPORT will take part in a joint cross-fertilisation event in Trieste titled:

“Digitalising the Road Last Mile for Ports and Multimodal Freight Terminals. Data Sharing and Interoperability for Efficient Freight Flows.”

The conference is organised by the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea in cooperation with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Autonomous Region and the Interporto di Trieste, and under the auspices of the EUSAIR Strategy.

The event will focus on one of the key operational challenges for European logistics systems: the efficient management of road freight flows at TEN-T core nodes, particularly ports and multimodal freight terminals. Increasing traffic volumes, congestion at access gates and fragmented data exchange continue to affect performance and reliability. Digital solutions are therefore essential to optimise truck entry and exit procedures, enhance interoperability and strengthen corridor efficiency.

Within this framework, PRESPORT will contribute to a dedicated session on the synergy among European and national funding instruments, presenting its approach to digital and sustainable freight solutions in cross-border contexts under the Interreg Italy–Croatia Programme. Together with ACCESSMILE (Interreg Central Europe), MERIDIAN (CEF Transport), MILEPORT (Interreg Italy–Croatia) and ELODIE (Italian Recovery and Resilience Plan), the event will highlight how complementary projects addressing similar challenges in different geographical areas can reinforce each other through coordination and knowledge exchange.

The programme will combine high-level institutional contributions, keynote speeches and operational best practices. Among the keynote interventions, the Port of Hamburg will present its experience in integrating real-time slot management, intelligent traffic control and interoperable data interfaces for landside traffic management. A round table discussion will gather port authorities, logistics operators and infrastructure managers to debate future perspectives for digital road freight transport.

The conference will be organised in a hybrid format, allowing participation both in person and online. The working languages will be Italian and English, with simultaneous interpretation provided.
