The NETWAP project has finalized the regional survey on waste management practices in the territories involved in the pilot actions:
Ist is an island in Croatia
- it has a surface area of 10 km2 and fewer than 250 residents, the differentiated collection of waste is still insufficient, the fraction of unsorted waste is very high (75%) The waste is transferred to the mainland by ship 11 times a year covering a distance of 65 km
Campomarino- Municipality in Molise, Italy
- Margins for improvement for the separated collection of organic waste (9% in 2018) even if recent interventions (installation of computerized road containers) and the support of an anaerobic digester have led to appreciable results (33% from March to December 2019)
Local composting in Ist and Campomarino is absent and the NETWAP project can play a strategic role in improving the situation of the concerned territories and of similar small local communities
