From local registries to shared open data: DIGIT2COAST collects data across all four pilot areas

06/11/2026

How do you make information on accessible health, care and mobility services truly usable across a border? The first step is to bring very different local data into a single, common language. This is exactly what DIGIT2COAST is doing in Activity A1.2, now underway in all four pilot territories.

Working in parallel, ECIPA Abruzzo and RIT Croatia are gathering, cleaning and reshaping local datasets so that they fit the Care & Go Data Scheme, the shared structure at the heart of the project's cross-border data solution.

In Italy, ECIPA Abruzzo is focusing on the Abruzzo and Marche regions, mapping accessible health facilities, pharmacy networks and the accessibility features of public transport.

In Croatia, RIT Croatia is working in the Dubrovnik-Neretva and Primorsko-Goranska Counties, drawing on regional health registries and tourism accessibility databases.

Once harmonised, the first datasets will go through automated validation scripts. They will then be published on the shared CKAN open-data portal and displayed on interactive uMap layers, making accessibility information easy to explore for public authorities, service providers and, ultimately, for residents and visitors who need it most.

The process is also open to feedback. Partner municipalities and first-level validators will review the initial results, and their input will guide the final adjustments to the schema ahead of Period 2 reporting.
