Developed within the framework of the STRENGTH project, bujica.com represents a major breakthrough in local environmental monitoring and disaster risk reduction for the City of Kaštela, Croatia.
The platform provides an integrated, real-time hydrometeorological monitoring system designed to safeguard communities and infrastructure from severe flash flood events:
- Real-Time Weather Intelligence: Gathers and visualizes continuous real-time data from 5 strategic meteorological stations and sensors deployed across the Kaštela territory.
- Comprehensive Basin Coverage: Monitors more than 20 hydrological basins and ephemeral watercourses (bujice) that flow through the area, analyzing basin slope, precipitation thresholds, and runoff conditions.
- Early Warning System (EWS): Enables automated, early flood notifications (Watch, Alert, Danger) so both local authorities and residents can stay ahead of critical weather events and take timely preventive action.
By combining cutting-edge sensing technology with open access to environmental data, the system marks a vital step forward in strengthening territorial resilience, climate adaptation, and citizen safety in Kaštela.
