RELANDART’s First Workshop in Cervia: a journey through memory and landscape

On 17 September, the first event of “Il paesaggio non è muto” (The Landscape Is Not Silent) took place in Cervia. The listening and participation journey was organised by Atlantide as part of the RELANDART project.
The meeting brought together the Civic Project Team, a network of local people and organisations invited to contribute to the development of the participatory process.
The discussion began with a question: what, of everything the Cervia Natural Park has been through, is important to remember, and how can it become a sign capable of allowing the Park to be experienced in a new way?
Together, participants explored some of the themes that will guide the journey: changes in the way people experience and move through the Park, stories and experiences that deserve to be shared, and the people who should be involved so that voices that are less likely to be heard in public meetings can also emerge.
The Civic Project Team therefore represented the first step in a process that will continue through the Community Workshops. In the first, “Il paesaggio dentro” (The Landscape Within), participants will explore what has changed, their memories, and what the community wishes to preserve. In the second, “Dalla ferita al segno” (From Wound to Sign), what emerges will be transformed into guidelines for the future artworks.
The process will lead to the development of a shared brief for artists, including places, stories, memories and traces to be reinterpreted, as well as indications on the experience that the future artworks should offer. Six installations are planned for the Park, accompanied by panels and QR codes linking to the stories collected.
