Following the co-design activities carried out with young people in Italy and Croatia, MEMORY ESCAPE is entering a new phase: historical sources, local stories and heritage are now being transformed into digital and interactive assets that will bring the two phygital escape room experiences to life.
At the heart of this development is a cross-border perspective connecting Bertinoro and Labin through two complementary dimensions of everyday life during the Fascist period: leisure and work.
In Bertinoro, the experience explores leisure, social life and hospitality through local heritage and historical sources connected to Fratta Terme, the former Casa del Fascio and the Column of Hospitality. The assets currently being developed include digital reconstructions of historical settings and elements inspired by everyday leisure activities, such as traditional Romagna playing cards.
In Labin, the experience explores the world of work and the everyday lives of miners. Historical documents and materials related to the mining community are being adapted into interactive challenges. Among the assets currently being developed are a puzzle based on a historical mining contract and another inspired by a mine cart, transforming historical information into elements of gameplay.
Rather than developing these two experiences separately, MEMORY ESCAPE brings their historical materials and perspectives into dialogue. The Digital Asset Library, a shared repository of historical and digital resources developed for the two escape rooms, will connect and organise materials from both territories, supporting a shared interpretation of their different yet interconnected histories.
Through this cross-border approach, MEMORY ESCAPE aims to create an engaging way for young people to explore and compare different aspects of everyday life across the Adriatic, while discovering how historical research can be transformed into an interactive heritage experience.
