BRIGANTINE Final Event in Venice

28/08/2026

The achievements and future perspectives of the INTERREG Italy–Croatia BRIGANTINE project will take centre stage at the project’s Final Event, taking place on 15 September 2026 at Casa dell’Ortolano on Certosa Island in Venice, Italy. The event will bring together research organisations, technology developers, public authorities and end users to present the project’s scientific, technological and operational results and discuss how its innovative solutions can contribute to the future of marine monitoring and the sustainable growth of the Blue Economy.

Over the course of the three-year project, BRIGANTINE partners from Italy and Croatia have combined expertise in autonomous surface vehicles, environmental sensors, aquatic botany, underwater imaging, digital services and field validation to develop an integrated framework for monitoring submerged seagrass meadows and other coastal habitats. The project has also produced new monitoring methodologies, validated sensing solutions and integrated data management approaches, with applications ranging from habitat mapping and water quality assessment to pollution and invasive species monitoring, infrastructure inspection, aquaculture and coastal management.

The Final Event will open with an overview of the BRIGANTINE project and its main achievements, followed by two technical sessions focusing on autonomous surface vehicles and innovative environmental monitoring technologies. The sessions will explore the development and field validation of autonomous vehicles, as well as advances in environmental sensors and monitoring solutions.

A live demonstration of the BRIGANTINE autonomous surface vehicles will take place in the afternoon, offering participants the opportunity to see the project’s technologies in action. The programme will continue with a round table entitled “From project results to operational applications”, focusing on the transition from research and technological development towards practical use. The event will conclude with the dissemination of project results and closing remarks.

The event represents an important opportunity to reflect on the lessons learned through BRIGANTINE and to discuss the practical adoption of the solutions developed during the project. By strengthening cooperation between research institutions, public authorities, SMEs and end users, BRIGANTINE aims to accelerate the transfer of innovation into operational environmental monitoring and support more sustainable management of marine and coastal ecosystems.

The Final Event will be held on 15 September 2026 at Casa dell’Ortolano, Isola della Certosa, Venice. Participation requires mandatory registration. You can find more details about the event in the attached file.
