New Locations Unlocked: Step Into Omišalj and Kaštela
10/08/2026
The ARCHAEODIGIT project is delighted to announce the release of the final version of the ARCHAEODIGIT app for Omišalj and Kaštela, marking a significant milestone in the project's mission to bring archaeological heritage closer to visitors through digital innovation. Developed by project partner ETT S.p.A., these two new applications join the ARCHAEODIGIT digital family, which already counts dedicated apps for Macerata and Sepino, completing the set of tools designed for all four test areas of the project.
The Omišalj app guides visitors through the archaeological site of Fulfinum-Mirine, one of the most significant Roman settlements on the island of Krk, while the Kaštela app accompanies travelers along the coast of central Dalmatia, from the seven historic villages of Kaštela to the underwater archaeological site of Trstenik and the ancient city of Salona. Both apps have been designed as complete, immersive companions for exploring these territories: they include images, texts, illustrations, games, audio files and useful links, combining rigorous archaeological content with an engaging, accessible format suitable for families, students and history enthusiasts alike.
A key feature of both applications is their full multilingual availability in Italian, English and Croatian, reflecting the cross-border spirit of the Interreg Italy-Croatia programme and ensuring that local communities and international visitors alike can enjoy the same quality of experience. The language automatically adapts to the device's system settings, making the apps intuitive and accessible from the very first use.
This release represents more than a technical achievement: it is a concrete step toward the project's broader goal of promoting off-season, sustainable and inclusive cultural tourism across the Adriatic region. By integrating storytelling, multimedia content and on-site navigation, ARCHAEODIGIT is helping local communities and visitors rediscover archaeological landscapes that have long deserved greater visibility.
Ahead of the official public rollout, the project partners are now carrying out an in-depth quality review of both applications, checking textual accuracy across all three languages, audio pronunciation and the correspondence between content and geolocation of points of interest on-site. This careful verification process reflects ARCHAEODIGIT's commitment to delivering a polished, reliable and culturally accurate experience to every user.
The Omišalj and Kaštela apps are now available for download on the App Store and Google Play.
With this new release, ARCHAEODIGIT continues to demonstrate how digital innovation can preserve, interpret and promote archaeological heritage, turning every visit into a living history adventure.
