Port of Rijeka Authority completes its pilot action with a new mobile application

The Port of Rijeka Authority has successfully completed its pilot action within the MILEPORT project, developing a mobile application designed to improve the management of truck arrivals and the flow of information related to port operations.
The application, developed for Android and iOS platforms, enables users to announce truck arrivals and check cargo availability, while providing different functionalities according to user roles. Large transport companies can make announcements on behalf of their drivers, who receive their appointment and digital permit directly on their mobile devices. Small transport operators can instead manage their own arrival announcements in a simple and efficient way.
The solution also improves communication on terminal activities and operational dynamics. By providing information on traffic conditions at port entrances, the application can help users better plan their arrivals and, when necessary, receive timely information on the situation at the port gates.
The pilot therefore contributes to smoother entry and exit procedures and to a more efficient connection between the port and shippers, transport companies and logistics operators, including those located in rural and peripheral areas. By supporting better management of truck flows, the solution can also contribute to reducing congestion and the environmental impacts associated with road transport.

The pilot represents a concrete step towards the digitalisation of port operations and the improvement of last-mile accessibility, in line with the objectives of the MILEPORT project.
