On 19th May 2025, INTERACT and DG REGIO hosted a webinar presenting the Harvesting Report on Post-2027 Interreg, which summarizes the results of the consultation process involving stakeholders, citizens, and programmes. Initiated by the European Commission during the 2023 Interreg Annual Event, this consultation aimed to inform the reform of Cohesion Policy and post-2027 planning.

For the first time, the process engaged not only policymakers and program stakeholders but also citizens, with a focus on youth. Over 10,000 individuals and organizations contributed to nearly 100 reports. Key findings highlight the importance of Interreg in fostering cross-border cooperation, addressing regional challenges, and empowering local communities. The Interreg GO! event, held in March 2025, further built on these results, gathering positive feedback regarding a stronger Interreg that builds even more trust and promotes increasing local engagement.

DG REGIO has outlined key takeaways for strengthening performance, responding to geopolitical shifts, and ensuring Interreg remains a strategic tool for cohesion and solidarity. It highlighted the continued relevance of Interreg in addressing cross-border challenges, supporting EU enlargement, and reinforcing the EU’s core value of cooperation.

Looking ahead, the Interreg Knowledge Fair 2025 will take place on November 4-5 in Belgrade, focusing on post-2027 developments.
