REGIOSTARS AWARDS 2025 - the competition has started!

21/02/2025

The European Commission recently launched REGIOSTARS 2025, the yearly competition for Cohesion Policy projects, which demonstrate the impact and inclusiveness of regional development.

We encourage our Standard+, Standard, Strategic and Cluster projects of the 2014-2020 programming period to express their interest to participate in the competition.

Since each Programme can nominate up to 5 projects, we ask our projects to express their interest by completing a dedicated online form (see aside) by 12th May 2025 (17:00 CET) at the latest.

Our Managing Authority will assess the project nominations, select projects with the best narrative and send them a formal endorsement letter.

Only after this pre-selection process is finished, one of the project partners (LP or other pps), can present the final submission to the Regiostars 2025 online Application Form that is open until 20th May 2025 (23:59:59 CET) and include the MA’s endorsement letter.

The selection process will be carried out by a jury. In early September everyone will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite finalists on the “Public Choice Award”. Finally, the winners will be announced during the REGIOSTARS 2025 ceremony, to be held during the European Week of Regions and Cities in October.

Projects will be able to apply in one of the five thematic Award categories:

● Category 1) A COMPETITIVE AND SMART EUROPE- Promoting competitiveness, innovation and economic resilience
● Category 2) A GREEN EUROPE- The green transition as the enabler of regional development
● Category 3) A CONNECTED EUROPE- Enhancing mobility and connectivity between regions
● Category 4) A SOCIAL AND INCLUSIVE EUROPE – Achieving a more inclusive Europe by harnessing regional talents
● Category 5) A EUROPE CLOSER TO THE CITIZENS- Fostering the sustainable development of all types of territories

Projects should apply within the category that corresponds to the policy objective under which they have been funded. For the projects funded during the 2014-2020 period, the applicants should refer to the competition category corresponding to the thematic objective under which they have been funded as indicated in the table in Guidelines for Applicants (see “Conversion Table” on pg. 15 of the GL for applicants”).

Only completed projects are considered and may be submitted. A completed project is a project which has carried out all the planned activities, has received its final financial contribution and has been declared closed by the project beneficiary and/or the Managing Authority.

Applications can be submitted in one of the official EU languages. All applications will be machine translated into English for the assessment of the jury.
