Info Days at Helvia Ricina: Discovering Ancient Heritage Through Digital Innovation
From 4 to 12 September 2026, the archaeological area of Helvia Ricina in Macerata will open its doors to the local community through four free Info Days dedicated to discovering the history of the ancient Roman colony and experiencing its new multimedia installation.
Organised within the framework of the ARCHAEODIGIT – ARCHAEOlogical DIGITal paths for an inclusive and sustainable tourism project, co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A Italy–Croatia 2021–2027 Programme, the initiative offers visitors the opportunity to explore archaeological heritage through a combination of guided tours, historical storytelling and digital technologies.
The Info Days represent an important opportunity to present to the community the concrete results of the ARCHAEODIGIT pilot action developed at Helvia Ricina and to demonstrate how digital innovation can create new, more engaging and accessible ways of experiencing the past.
Discover the Ancient Theatre of Helvia Ricina
Located near Macerata, the archaeological area of Helvia Ricina preserves the remains of an ancient Roman colony and, in particular, its impressive Roman theatre — a valuable testimony to the history and cultural life of the area.
During the guided visits, participants will have the opportunity to discover the history of the ancient settlement while exploring the archaeological remains and learning more about the role the theatre played in Roman society.
The experience will be enriched by the new multimedia installation developed as part of the ARCHAEODIGIT pilot action, which introduces innovative digital tools and content to support the interpretation of the archaeological site.
By combining historical and cultural information with interactive and multimedia elements, the new installation offers visitors new ways to explore and understand Helvia Ricina, making the site more immersive, engaging and accessible to different audiences.

Bringing Archaeology Closer to the Community
The Helvia Ricina pilot action demonstrates how innovation can support a more accessible and engaging relationship between archaeological sites and their audiences.
The new multimedia installation was developed following a public procurement procedure by auroraMeccanica, specialised in the design of interactive experiences and installations, in collaboration with experts from the Municipality of Macerata and with the involvement of institutional and scientific stakeholders who contributed to the development of the contents and the graphic and artistic concept.
Through this collaborative approach, the project combines archaeological knowledge, cultural storytelling and digital innovation to create a new visitor experience that responds to the needs of diverse audiences.
