INNOVATIVE INVESTMENTS SECTOR OF FISHERY AND AQUACULTURE

INVESTINFISH ENABLES DEVELOPMENT OF INNOVATIVE INVESTMENTS OF ISTRIAN ENTREPRENEURS IN SECTOR OF FISHERY AND AQUACULTURE 

As part of the INVESTIFISH project, the Istrian Development Agency prepared an analysis of the current situation and guidelines for the development of fishery and aquaculture in the County of Istria and these were recently presented at the Association of Craftsmen Poreč. On that occasion, director of IDA, Boris Sabatti, emphasized that the document contains a vision for the implementation of the strategic transformation of fishery and aquaculture in Istria for the upcoming programming period with the aim of strengthening the sustainability of the blue economy.

The emphasis in the analysis and guidelines is on strengthening the sustainability of Istrian fishery and aquaculture in all its aspects (ecological, social, economic) and on introducing innovations in fisheries and the value chain of fishery products, strengthening cooperation between the public sector, scientific community and private sector. Technologies, production processes and standards of market recognition certificates and transfer of knowledge and experience.

The main part of the document was dedicated to the specifics of the fishery and aquaculture sector in Istria County, based primarily on input data collected from 8 Istrian companies operating in the fishery and aquaculture sector that were willing to receive experts support for investment in innovation and have expressed interest thought the public call announced by IDA.

The presented analysis includes the needs and planned investments of these economic entities, and their business ideas through the activities of the project INVESTINFISH were shaped to the level of investment studies that will serve for the further development of their business ideas.
