Istarska razvojna agencija - IDA doo , ICARUS project partner held a webinar "Discover Istria by bike" last Monday. The webinar was attended by numerous participants and focused on incentivating behavior change towards the use of more friendly transport modes. This time the focus was placed on bike and presentation of Istria as important bike destination.

The webinar showed how important it is to ensure a close and continuous cooperation among public authorities, touristic agencies and organizations, accommodation structures and bike associations. Availability of detailed and clear information is necessary to attract tourists and bike lovers to try out one of many bike tours and destinations.

Indeed, Istria offers solutions for any type of cyclist, be it a professional rider or family with children. Along the path routes, cyclist can find several accommodation and restauration solutions meeting everyone’s needs. Well prepared and marked bike tracks, as well as cyclist security are of outmost importance.
The webinar included also the presentation of some piloting activities tested in the framework of ICARUS project: multimodal service offering tourists to load their bikes on the train from Pula to Buzet, provided in cooperation with the Croatian Railways and transformation of the former train track into bike path from Kanfanar to Rovinj.

Mr. Davor Dobrila from the Istrian tourism board, presented the international bike path Parenzana, running from Trieste to Porec, former railway track between Trieste and Porec, involved in several EU projects based on cross-border cooperation. As a matter of fact, ICARUS will also implement a pilot activity connecting bike path Alpe Adria and Parenzana.

Finally, IDA organized a public call for companies willing to offer their services with the aim of promoting sustainable transport: free bike check-ups, guided tours, discounts on bike rentals and guided tours. Additional information on these offers is available on their website.
The online event ended with a quiz, whose winner won a bike!
