LEGACOOP ROMAGNA (Lead Partner)
Legacoop Romagna is a regional cooperative association and serves as the lead partner of the GECO 2.2 project. It coordinates the overall project implementation, ensures partner collaboration, and leads strategic planning across all work packages. The organisation oversees comparative research, supports the improvement of technical tools, and facilitates the certification process. It plays a crucial role in integrating climate-friendly practices into the cooperative sector and promoting regional carbon credit schemes.

For the GECO2.2 project, the associated partner of Legacoop Romagna is the Emilia-Romagna Region, with which it collaborates and commits to achieving the project's objectives related to the promotion of sustainable practices to address climate change, particularly in the agricultural sector

CIHEAM Bari is an intergovernmental organisation with long-standing experience in applied research, higher education, and international cooperation in sustainable agriculture across the Mediterranean. As a scientific and technical partner in GECO 2.2, it brings its expertise to the development of reliable tools and methodologies for the voluntary carbon credit market, while supporting data management, training, and stakeholder engagement.

AGRRA is a public agency supporting sustainable development in Zadar County. In GECO 2.2, AGRRA leads Work Package 3 on the certification of tools and procedures. It compares project methods with international standards (e.g. VCS, Gold Standard) and initiates the certification process. AGRRA also supports stakeholder involvement, testing activities, and the design of regulatory frameworks that enhance the credibility of regional carbon credit markets.

ASSOCIATED PARTNER
Contribution of Andreja Martonja Hitrec, Head of Service for Harmonization with EU Strategies and International Obligations at the Croatian Ministry of Agriculture, associated partner of the Rural Development Agency of Zadar County. By joining the GECO2.2 project – a continuation of the GECO2 experience – the Ministry supports national efforts to define a legislative framework for carbon farming and certification systems in Croatia.

The Dubrovnik-Neretva Region plays a key role in shaping the legal and institutional dimension of GECO 2.2. As coordinator of Work Package 1, it develops guidelines aligned with EU carbon certification frameworks and contributes to updating the GECO2 methodology. The Region supports the pilot implementation of voluntary carbon markets and fosters collaboration between farmers, institutions, and credit buyers.

Coldiretti Molise is the regional branch of Italy’s largest farmers’ organisation. In GECO 2.2, it leads pilot activities in the Molise region under Work Package 4. Coldiretti is responsible for selecting farms and industrial actors, calculating and verifying CO₂ credits, and facilitating supply–demand matching in the voluntary carbon market. It also organises public events to enhance local engagement and raise awareness on sustainable agricultural practices.
Legacoop Marche represents over 300 cooperatives in the Marche region, with a strong presence in agriculture and fisheries. Within GECO 2.2, it supports the regional pilot phase by engaging cooperatives in the carbon credit scheme and promoting sustainable practices. It coordinates stakeholder involvement and ensures that project tools and outcomes are integrated into the local cooperative ecosystem and policies.

UMK – Olive Growers Association Mastrinka is a non-profit association based in the Split-Dalmatia region, representing over 100 olive producers. In GECO 2.2, it plays a vital role in communication, education, and stakeholder engagement. UMK supports the testing and refinement of project tools, contributes to local training sessions, and ensures the broad dissemination of project results. Its active network helps raise awareness of sustainable practices and opportunities in the voluntary carbon market.
