About section

About

The FishNoWaste project aims to address the issue of marine litter in the Northern-Central Adriatic Sea by enhancing waste reduction, collection, and management practices in fishing ports. Recognizing fishing activities as a significant source of marine litter, the project seeks to involve key stakeholders in developing and implementing innovative techniques and materials to reduce plastic waste. Through collaboration with research institutions, fisher associations, port authorities, and municipalities in Italy and Croatia, the project will monitor debris caught during fishing activities, replace plastics with eco-friendly materials, and promote circular waste management models.

Additionally, a communication campaign will raise awareness about the importance of proper waste management, while strategic management and policy advice will guide future initiatives. By establishing a network of partners and stakeholders, FishNoWaste aims to develop an effective basin-wide strategy to mitigate marine litter in the Adriatic Sea.
