Workshop for the fisheries sector at the Zadar Fishing Cooperative

On Friday, 27 February 2026, Association for Nature, Environment and Sustainable Development Sunce organized a workshop for the fisheries sector at the Zadar Fishing Cooperative, focusing on waste reduction practices and sustainable waste management in Adriatic fishing ports.
During the workshop, participants were introduced to the objectives of the FishNoWaste project, as well as the legislative framework related to marine litter management. Examples of good practices from Croatia and Italy were shared, followed by an open discussion with participants.
The discussion addressed concrete challenges faced in the field, along with solutions that have already proven successful in practice. Particular emphasis was placed on future steps, with participants highlighting the importance of continuing to involve and equip additional fishing ports and cooperatives across Croatia through upcoming projects.
At the end of the workshop, bags for the collection of passively fished waste were distributed to trawler operators.
