Pilot initiative launched at the Rimini flea market to improve plastic crate management

03/02/2026

Within the framework of the FishNoWaste project, a pilot initiative has been launched in recent weeks at the Rimini flea market to improve and optimize the management of plastic crates used for fish commercialization.

The initiative introduces a benchmark-based system aimed at enhancing the traceability and monitoring of plastic crates, enabling more efficient reuse and improved control throughout the market operations. This ongoing pilot seeks to reduce dispersion and waste, while at the same time supporting better work organization for market operators and staff.

The activity represents a concrete step towards a more sustainable and circular fish supply chain, in line with the project’s objectives to minimize waste and promote responsible resource management within the fisheries sector.
