Ogulin is a small town surrounded by nice landscapes. It has rich tradition, culture and natural beauties, so there is plenty of richness to explore around. In all of that, Heritage Museum of Ogulin plays important role in displaying history, ethnography, alpinism, and the whole way of life in that area from about 100 years ago, says Ana Krznarić, Acting Director of the Ogulin Heritage Museum.

Karlovac County has a lot of hidden tourist treasures that still need to be discovered on bigger level. One of them is city of Gospić which has to offer a lot of interesting content, that's maybe underrepresented in Croatia and whole Excover area. In the latest interview, we found out that perfect example for that is the Ogulin Heritage Museum.

Ana Krznarić, acting director of the Ogulin Heritage Museum revealed the whole exhibition of this institution that presents history, culture, tradition and heritage of the entire Ogulin area - and it covers even wider area of Karlovac County. "The museum features eight different collections in permanent exhibition. We could point out Alpine Collection, whose importance lies in the fact that Ogulin is considered to be the cradle of Croatian alpinism. In fact, the idea for Croatian national alpine society sprouted in Ogulin, and it was founded in 1874. Today our museum's Alpine Collection is the starting point to all alpinists from Croatia, and neighbouring countries which are visiting Klek mountain, above Ogulin", said Krznarić, adding that besides Alpine Collection, museum features Homeland War Collection, Ethnographic Collection, Archaeological Collection, History Collection and memorial room of Ivana Brlić Mažuranić.

- Ethnographic Collection of the Heritage Museum of Ogulin depicts the way of life of the Ogulin's residents from about 100 years ago. This collection is organised around the replica of a vintage rural house through which we wanted to present the traditional way of building and living in the area. Houses were made of wood, because we are on the outskirts of Gorski Kotar (forest-rich area). The roofs were covered with rye straw called "škopa", or wooden cover called "šindra" - explained Krznarić, concluding that Ogulin is a small town surrounded by nice landscapes, and because of the rich tradition, culture and natural beauties, there is plenty of richness to explore around.
