Info Day Highlights Sustainability and European Unity at “Autumn in Lika 2025"

08/10/2025

As part of the 2025 EU Projects Open Doors Day, the Public Institution Regional Development Agency of Lika-Senj County - LIRA, organized the ECOFOODCYCLE - Reducing Food Waste and its Environmental Footprint through Sustainable Food Systems (ID: ITHR0200316) info day, as a continuation of the “Sweet Taste, Zero Waste” campaign.

The event took place on October 3-4, 2025, at Stjepan Radić Square in Gospić, within the framework of the traditional “Autumn in Lika” festival, which once again attracted numerous exhibitors and visitors from across Croatia and beyond.

The ECOFOODCYCLE info day drew significant public attention. Among the visitors was the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Tonči Glavina, who expressed interest in the project’s objectives and activities. LIRA representatives informed the Minister about key results, planned activities, and the project’s importance for sustainable development and food waste reduction.

During the event, project team members presented the project and engaged with numerous visitors, local government representatives, family farm owners (OPGs), and other interested citizens, sharing initiatives that promote responsible resource use, the circular economy, and environmental awareness.

A special highlight was the promotional corner in European Union colors, emphasizing the importance of EU co-funding and the positive impact of projects like ECOFOODCYCLE. Visitors received informative and promotional materials, and through engaging “tips & tricks” demonstrations, they learned how everyone can contribute at home to reducing waste and protecting the environment.

The ECOFOODCYCLE project, co-financed by the Interreg Italy-Croatia Programme 2021-2027, brings together partners from Croatia and Italy to create innovative and sustainable solutions for waste reduction and raising awareness of responsible food and environmental practices.
