Trieste news magazine has published an article dedicated to Adriafer and more specifically to our Project

24.02.2026 – 07:00 – There is frequent discussion about European railways, or about a desire to use—at a continental level—the extensive rail network that runs uninterrupted from Riga, in the Baltics, across countries and nations all the way to Lisbon, in Portugal. However, clear discrepancies remain between the different railway networks: signalling systems, train models, staff training, even something as mundane as tickets. Overall, harmonising and/or using the railways of European Union member states seamlessly is proving more difficult than expected.
Within this effort, in the logistics field, falls the Crossfreight process, aimed at “integrating” rail freight traffic between Italy and Croatia, at least from a bureaucratic and digitalisation standpoint. This is a matter of great importance for the Port of Trieste, in which Adriafer participates in the project, with the aim of addressing the long-standing problem of train saturation and the terminal’s capacity to quickly route goods by rail.
The core of this innovation lies in the technological integration between Adriafer’s Trainshunt software and the Port Authority’s Sinfomar system, developed in collaboration with Info.era. This synergy creates a single, digitalised source for managing shunting requests, safety authorisations and wagon tracking in real time, eliminating manual processes and reducing the risk of errors. By digitalising critical procedures such as the cancellation of shunting requests and the synchronisation of wagon databases, the project theoretically ensures greater transparency and data quality.
“This approach not only improves day-to-day operational efficiency, but also positions the Port of Trieste as a model for smart and sustainable logistics, capable of responding quickly to the modern needs of the cross-border market,” Crossfreight commented in a statement on LinkedIn.
