The study visit for journalists of the historic village Rione Fossi di Accadia (Foggia) is scheduled for 8 June 2023 (8 a.m.-3 p.m.), organized by Tecnopolis, in cooperation with ASSET Puglia.

Accadia is a small rural town located in the Apulian area called Monti Dauni. The ancient urban core of Accadia is the historical “Rione Fossi” a currently uninhabited quarter representing the most interesting part of the town that was partially destroyed during 20th-century earthquakes. Accadia has recently obtained public funding of 20 mln € for the urban regeneration of the “Rione Fossi”. The project aims to transform Accadia into a touristic destination.

The study visit for journalists of the historic village Rione Fossi di Accadia (Foggia) is scheduled for 8 June 2023 (8 a.m.-3 p.m.), organized by Tecnopolis, in cooperation with ASSET Puglia.

The visit aims to present and make people aware of the redevelopment and regeneration project of the historic village Rione Fossi di Accadia, which, with a maxi-investment of 20 million euro, will transform Accadia into a village of culture and tourist attraction. The project has been selected - the only one in Apulia - among the 20 Italian municipalities that will be able to benefit from the Borghi Plan financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

The Fossi area, whose caves date back to the Neolithic period, preserves traces of both the passage of the Romans with 14 hypogea from pre-Roman times and medieval settlements. Abandoned after the 1930 earthquake, today Accadia is the protagonist of an important opportunity for sustainable and responsible tourism development.

Tecnopolis STP, as the lead partner of BOOST5 project has selected this sustainable tourism experience destination and shared it with the other European partners, as it is perfectly in line with the project's objectives, which focus on enhancing innovative cultural itineraries that promote the delocalization of tourist flows towards lesser-known attractions.
The programme includes a visit to the village's panoramic viewpoints with a presentation of the several approved development projects, community involvement actions, and the effects on slow tourism.
