15/07/2024
Successful Launch of BNA Project on the Island of Krk The City of Krk recently hosted a landmark event celebrating the launch of the BNA project, aimed at enhancing cross-border cooperation between regions in Italy and Croatia.
The event kicked off with a welcome speech by the Mayor of Krk, Dario Vasilić, who also serves as the chairman of the Coordination of the Municipalities of the Island of Krk and the City of Krk. Mayor Vasilić emphasized the importance of the BNA project for regional development and international collaboration.
Following the mayor's address, the president of the Association VISOKI JABLANI provided an in-depth presentation on the BNA project. The presentation covered the project's goals, activities to date, and future plans. Key highlights included local needs mapping, the development of a common learning model, and upcoming training sessions for local government officials. These training sessions aim to enhance skills in planning and developing cross-border EU projects.
A significant point of discussion was the project's ultimate goal: to strengthen cooperation between Italian and Croatian regions by forming a cross-border BNA social cluster of local self-governments. This initiative will be formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. Participants also discussed the capitalization of the Cluster, highlighting the benefits of stronger cross-border cooperation among local self-governments and the results of capacity-building efforts. Opportunities available within the Interreg IT-HR program and other EU funds were also explored.
The collaborative efforts of local self-governments, public institutions, and organizations were further elaborated, showcasing the involvement of local officials and public employees in mapping local needs, participating in focus groups, and capacity building. General Conclusion All participants of the G2G meeting, including the seven local authorities of the Island of Krk, agreed to cooperate on the project's implementation.
There was a strong interest in capacity building and strengthening trans-border cooperation with Italian partners through the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding. As a first step, it was agreed that mayors would forward information regarding mapping, focus groups, and educational sessions to all relevant stakeholders in their municipalities.
This meeting marks a significant step forward in fostering international collaboration and building stronger, more connected communities across borders.
