Spoltore, Italy – July 11, 2024 – A key G2G conference titled "European Planning for Territorial Development" convened at Spoltore Town Hall, drawing together municipal leaders, local organizations, and strategic planners. This event, held from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., was part of the ongoing Interreg Italy-Croatia 2021/2027 initiative, specifically the BNA project – Brand New Adriatic European Management Skills for Newcomers. The gathering aimed to build effective partnerships, streamline European funding access for smaller communities, and enhance regional growth strategies.


Focus on European Funding Access and Regional Cohesion
The conference, designed as a platform for collaboration and networking, focused on improving municipal and regional access to European funds, providing guidance on the intricate processes of Euro-planning. As smaller communities in Italy seek to leverage these opportunities for sustainable development, the conference marked a significant step in strengthening the region's economic resilience and development potential.


The event featured insights from prominent figures across regional and European projects:
•    BNA Project Overview: Project leaders Lorenzo Rossi and Camillo Marracino launched the conference by outlining the BNA project's goals. They explained how the project fosters cross-border cooperation and provides accessible pathways for smaller communities to obtain European funding. They were joined by European planning expert Giulia Costantino and Erasmus Plus ambassador Laura Caronna, who shared expertise on navigating EU programs.
•    Abruzzo Prossimo Presentation: At 5:30 p.m., Daniele D’Amario, undersecretary of the Abruzzo regional council for tourism and planning, presented the "Abruzzo Prossimo" Unitary Programming Strategy (2021-2030). Accompanied by Emanuela Murri, director of the National Programming 3 BNA Service of the Abruzzo Presidency, D’Amario emphasized the importance of strategic preparation for upcoming European funding cycles to advance local and regional development efforts.
Spoltore Mayor Chiara Trulli and the town’s Director of European Policies, Alberto Baroli, also highlighted the importance of cohesion among local and regional organizations to capitalize on EU community funds, underscoring the value of a unified approach in securing financial growth.

The conference included interactive Q&A sessions and presentations, enabling in-depth discussions on future initiatives. Key topics included the BNA project’s upcoming activities, which will focus on training programs designed to help municipalities streamline access to EU resources. In the final segment, Giulia Costantino detailed the EU funding cycle, covering essential evaluation criteria like excellence, impact, and quality of project implementation.
