WP1 - Habitat pressures assessment and strategy development through stakeholder collaboration_2

Habitat pressures assessment and strategy development through stakeholder collaboration

To transform an organised box of data into shared, implementable, concrete actions addressing coastal nautical pressure mitigation and the protection of valuable habitats, the project developed a step-by-step program of large-stakeholder engagement and consultation actions.

These are the Final Outputs to achieve:

Cross-border strategy to mitigate nautical, beach-based, and recreational tourism pressure existing in the coastal pilot areas. Adopted by a Memorandum of Understanding, it is characterised by strong stakeholder involvement and is based on the results of 2 pilot actions and on the toolbox of solutions, containing measures identified during the project to reduce biodiversity loss caused by beach and leisure boating tourism.

WP2 - Reaching integrated solutions for coastal habitat impact mitigation_2

Reaching integrated solutions for coastal habitat impact mitigation

To mitigate impacts from beach and leisure boating tourism on coastal habitats the project is developing and testing pilot actions in five areas in Croatia (Kornati National Park, Badija and the islands around Korčula, Pakleni Islands) and Italy (Panzano Bay – Monfalcone, MPA Porto Cesareo).

These are the Final Outputs to achieve:

Cross-border designed pilot actions to mitigate nautical, beach-based and recreational tourism pressure in the coastal pilot areas. The pilot action results, togheter with a range of targeted solutions for the local coastal habitat protection and the safeguarding and ecosystem services will be an integral part of the project strategy adopted by an agreement within the BIOPRESSADRIA network.

WP3 - Capacity building and decision maker support

Capacity building and decision maker support

To strengthen the stakeholders' and specific decision-makers' skills in the field of habitat management and conservation, while providing a box of conceptual and practical solutions aimed at protecting valuable coastal habitats endangered by beach and leisure boating tourism pressures.

These are the Final Outputs to achieve:

- to reach a variety of stakeholders to build knowledge and skills, therefore participation in trainings is a key indicator. Trainings will be open to the participation of a variety of stakeholders, including academicians from the university, public institutions, and associations to ensure that knowledge is amplified. Training activities involve the training of participants over several sessions. At least 50 people should attend all trainings.
- a series of technical and procedural joint solutions (“toolbox” of joint solutions 4 coastal protection) to mitigate nautical, beach-based and recreational tourism pressures on marine and coastal habitats. These solutions are developed through the implementation of pilot actions and are especially addressed, through baseline indications, to public authorities and stakeholders interested in marine and coastal habitat management and conservation.
