Scientific diving for marine conservation

At the end of May, Andrea Rismondo from SELC – partner of the BIOPRESSADRIA project – took part in the training seminar "Scientific Diving in Marine Biology", organised by FNOB and FIB at the University of Ferrara.
During his presentation, "Main Underwater Monitoring Techniques", SELC illustrated how scientific diving provides reliable data to support marine conservation through standardised monitoring methods. SELC presented the BIOPRESSADRIA project, which conducted several underwater monitoring campaigns to assess the condition of seagrass meadows and quantify the impacts of human activities in the five pilot sites, particularly recreational anchoring. By combining field surveys, photo sampling, and 3D photogrammetry, the project generates scientific evidence to support the protection and sustainable management of these valuable coastal habitats.
The seminar provided an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge on marine research, environmental monitoring, and innovative approaches to preserving coastal and marine ecosystems.
