VENICE BOAT SHOW 2026 - Pratical solutions for the protection of seagrasses and sustainable boating in the Adriatic Sea
Within the framework of the Venice Boat Show 2026, the BIOPRESSADRIA project is organising a conference dedicated to the protection of Adriatic coastal ecosystems and the promotion of sustainable boating practices compatible with marine environmental conservation. The event will present the project’s objectives and the main pilot actions developed in Italian and Croatian pilot sites, with a particular focus on seagrass habitats, which are essential for biodiversity, water quality, and coastal resilience.
BIOPRESSADRIA aims to develop a shared cross-border approach to managing the environmental pressures generated by beach tourism and boating activities in the Adriatic Sea. The project combines habitat mapping, environmental monitoring, analysis of human pressures, and the development of technical and management tools that can be replicated in other coastal areas. Particular attention is given to practical solutions such as sustainable mooring systems, seagrass protection and restoration actions, and tools supporting coastal planning and zoning.
The event will also highlight the importance of stakeholder involvement, bringing together public authorities, marine protected area managers, researchers, boating operators, fishers, and local communities to promote cooperation and knowledge exchange. Through presentations, discussions, and contributions from partner projects, the event will showcase concrete solutions and future perspectives for a more sustainable blue economy and the long-term protection of Adriatic marine ecosystems.
The discussion will also be enriched by the participation of other territorial cooperation projects — POSEIDONE, MARE SUPERUM, and UNDERSEA — with the aim of fostering synergies, exchange of experiences, and integration among initiatives dedicated to the sustainable management of coastal and marine environments in the Adriatic.
