Europe Day Info Event in Zadar Raises Awareness of Climate Risks and Sustainable Water Management

08/05/2026

On 8 May 2026, the Zadar County Development Agency ZADRA NOVA organised an Info Day for citizens on Petar Zoranić Square in Zadar within the framework of the bePrepARed project and the local celebration of Europe Day.

The event was organised as a public outdoor activity and brought EU-funded projects closer to citizens through informative, educational and interactive content.

Visitors were introduced to the objectives and activities of the bePrepARed project, with particular attention to climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction and the sustainable management of sensitive ecosystems and water landscapes.

The event highlighted the main climate and hydrological risks affecting protected karst areas, including Paklenica National Park. Citizens received information on drought, water scarcity, intense rainfall, flash floods, erosion and wildfire risk, as well as on the importance of monitoring and Nature-Based Solutions.

Particular emphasis was placed on the role of citizens, local institutions, schools, enterprises and civil society organisations in protecting water resources and strengthening climate resilience.

The open format of the event enabled direct communication with citizens and visitors of all ages, including children and students, and provided an opportunity to distribute informative materials and answer questions about the project.

The Info Day contributed to raising public awareness of sustainable water use, climate preparedness and the importance of protecting natural heritage through cooperation between institutions, experts and local communities.
