Regional Workshop in Zadar Promotes the bePrepARed Strategy and Action Plan for Paklenica National Park
28/05/2026
On 28 May 2026, the Zadar County Development Agency ZADRA NOVA organised a regional workshop in Zadar within the framework of bePrepARed Activity 2.4 – Communication to Institutional Stakeholders at Regional Level.
The event brought together 14 representatives of regional and local authorities, protected area management institutions, development agencies, civil protection services and environmental and technical organisations.
The workshop focused on the main results developed under Work Package 2, particularly the bePrepARed Cross-Border General Strategy and the local Action Plan for Paklenica National Park.
Participants discussed the climate risks affecting karst and protected areas, including flash floods, erosion, prolonged dry periods, heatwaves and wildfire risk. These challenges were considered in relation to visitor safety, ecosystem resilience and the sustainable management of the Park.
The Strategy and Action Plan were presented as practical frameworks connecting climate scenarios, stakeholder needs, Nature-Based Solutions and local management priorities. Particular attention was given to the integration of project results into existing planning and management documents.
The discussion highlighted the importance of clearly defined institutional responsibilities, stronger cooperation among relevant organisations and improved access to local climate and environmental data.
The workshop contributed to building institutional and social support for the future implementation of climate adaptation measures and the sustainable management of Paklenica National Park.
