A three-page article on AdSWiM was published on the last number of the "Hrvatske Vode" Interdisciplinary journal in December 2021 thanks to the Croatian partners Izvor Ploče and VIK.
The article presents the project in general with the main objectives and results that have been achieved during the last three years of work. In particular, it focuses on the AGS Aerobic Granular Sludge Technology that was studied and tested by the project. It is s an innovative, compact and energy efficient wastewater treatment process that seems to be mature for full-scale implementation around the world. Aerobic granules are distinguished from activated sludge flocs through their larger size and more compact and spherical structure. Due to these properties, granules settle rapidly and can therefore contribute to compact treatment processes through high sludge concentrations and short settling times.
HRVATSKE VODE is an interdisciplinary journal whose main task is to inform the professional and scientific public about the latest achievements in the field of water management through numerous scientific and professional articles, presentations from scientific conferences, reviews and other information on all disciplines dealing with water. In addition to the technical and environmental aspects, the journal also covers sociological and economic issues of water management, thus covering all phases of planning and management of water resources. Accordingly, the contribution of scientists and experts in the field of hydrology, geology, geography, meteorology, pedology, biology, sociology and all other relevant professions and specialties is welcome.
Public Institution for Public Utilities Izvor Ploče Ltd. (Izvor Ploče) is a water supply company operating in the area of the City of Ploče and Municipality of Gradac in Croatia. Izvor Ploče Ltd., as AdSWiM project partner N°8 (PP8), is involved in the implementation of project activities related to conceptual innovative technical solutions for quality monitoring, treatment, and management of urban sewage system and wastewater treatment plants, as well as in continuous project management, communication and dissemination of project activities.
Split Water and Sewerage Company Ltd. (VIK Split) provides water supply and waste water treatment services to Split-Solin and Kaštela-Trogir conurbations and covers the area of four cities and nine municipalities in Split-Dalmatia County. VIK as project partner N°9 (PP9) is involved in the ongoing project management, communication and dissemination activities, as well as study of seawater quality in cooperation with Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture, and Geodesy of University of Split (PP11).
