A Holiday You’ll Never Forget

A Holiday You’ll Never Forget

“A Holiday You’ll Never Forget” was designed for people with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, as well as for their caregivers. The initiative, held from September 1 to 8 in Cesenatico, was organized by the Maratona Alzheimer Foundation.

The goal was to create the conditions to meet the needs of people with dementia, but also to take on a major cultural challenge: to overcome stereotypes and eliminate the stigma surrounding people with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

These are core themes of the Maratona Alzheimer Foundation, which is committed to affirming the rights of people with dementia, ensuring specialized care, supporting prevention and research, and promoting networks among associations, public bodies, and private organizations.

The Alzheimer’s Half Marathon

The Alzheimer’s Half Marathon

The Alzheimer’s Half Marathon, a FIDAL competitive race (21.097 km) and the 7th Azeglio Vicini Memorial, took place on September 14, 2025.

This year, we reached another special milestone: record participation, with over 6,500 people taking part.

A result measured not only in incredible numbers, but in the strength of the community that joined the 2025 Alzheimer Marathon.

Together, we turned the kilometres we travelled into a collective act of love - a hymn to life and to the dignity of those who live with this illness every day.

Together, we can break the silence!

Travel Without Barriers: A New Vision of Inclusive Tourism

Travel Without Barriers: A New Vision of Inclusive Tourism

For people living with Dementia and Alzheimer's disease, travelling can become increasingly difficult due to a lack of adapted services and understanding within tourism environments. Yet travel experiences can have a powerful positive impact on wellbeing.

Inclusive tourism allows people with cognitive decline to continue exploring, socialising, and enjoying meaningful moments, while also supporting their mental and emotional wellbeing. Simple activities such as walking through a destination, participating in cultural experiences, or spending time in nature can stimulate memory, reduce stress, and strengthen social connections.

For families and caregivers, these experiences are equally important. Travelling in a supportive and inclusive environment provides moments of rest and shared enjoyment, helping to reduce the emotional and physical burden of caregiving.

The ADRINCLUSIVE project is working to transform tourism into a truly accessible resource for everyone, promoting inclusive destinations, raising awareness among tourism professionals, and creating opportunities for people with cognitive decline to travel safely and comfortably.

Watch the video below to learn how ADRINCLUSIVE is building more inclusive tourism experiences across the Adriatic region.
