On 23rd November 2021, Airports of Apulia (PP2) hosted the final events of the project ADRIGREEN. The initiative, organized by the Partner and attended by all the Project Partners, began with a Press Conference and finished with a Training Day.

During the Press conference, the results achieved by the project were presented to all participants and media. Specifically, the purchase of an electric tractor for the Airport ground handling service (Model: SIMAI TE252) and the predisposition of a study designed to evaluate the actions to be taken to improve environmental sustainability, according to analytics instruments based on sustainability indicators such as LCA and/or Carbon Footprint.

Concerning the electric tractor, it was bought to carry long-range heavy loads (for instance, luggage) and will replace similar vehicles equipped with diesel engines. In this way the Airport of Brindisi, in line with its zero green-house gas emission strategy, will contribute significantly to the reduction of C02 emissions and energy consumption, while executing daily tasks.

With reference to the environmental impact assessment, the University Aldo Moro of Bari and the University of Foggia collaborated with Airports of Apulia in order to carry out a study on the environmental impact and to define a “Green transition path”, and then drafted a technical report on environmental sustainability, according to the GRI standards and in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The event ended with a Training Day for stakeholders and staff concerning the theme of environmental sustainability and green transition in the airports, as one of the main purposes of the project is to improve the environmental performances of the Adriatic maritime and aviation systems and to reduce the environmental impact of the transport systems in the ports and airports of the areas involved in the project.
