In INTERREG IT-HR AdriaClim project [1] [2], the inputs required to force the SHYFEM hydrodynamic model [3], that will generate high-resolution numerical simulations on the pilot area (Gulf of Trieste and Marano-Grado lagoon), are in progress.
In this context, it was necessary to carry out some corrections to rivers’ flow data.
In fact, known the difficulties in carrying out measurements of a river’s flow, especially if the river is characterized by irregular cross section, assimilation between observations and numerical models is often performed. Depending on the specific calibration of the numerical model, the assimilation process may lead to the production of data that are bias-affected.
After a careful analysis, the rivers’ flow data, available to ARPA FVG (PP11), has been corrected.
