WP 1 - Comprehensive Analysis

To gain knowledge on the current state of food waste in targeted regions across the Programme area and its impact on the environment, including the release of green house gases, and the degradation of critical areas, identify the legal framework and learn from the good practices models for food waste prevention and management and develop a stakeholder’s engagement model to aid in the reduction of food waste. 

The Output of Work Package 1 is focused on developing a comprehensive strategy jointly by PPs, to raise awareness, reduce, and manage food waste in a coordinated and effective manner across borders. It has been designed to ensure that all PPs have been aligned and worked together towards the common goal of reducing food waste.

Conduct A Food Waste Audit And Research On The Impact Of Food Waste On The Environment

• Cross-border guide to conduct food waste audit

Step-by-step instructions on how to conduct a food waste audit in a cross-border context. The guide will include detailed information on how to collect data, as well as how to analyse the data collected and how to interpret the results of the food waste audit and how to use the information

• Food Waste Audit

The actual food waste audit report that summarizes the findings of the audit, including the amount of food waste generated in the targeted regions, the main sources of food waste, and the impact of food waste on the environment. The food waste audit will involve various stakeholders.

Status Quo Of Food Waste Prevention And Management

• Joint analysis of policy framework, included policy brief

A comprehensive report that focuses to policy frameworks related to food waste prevention and management in the participating countries. It will include the identification of gaps in current policies, best practices, and recommendations for improvement

• n.4 ECOFOODCYCLE Talks

ECOFOODCYCLE Talks will bring together stakeholders from different sectors to discuss food waste prevention and management. Talks will provide a platform to present project, share best practices, challenges, and opportunities related to food waste reduction and management

• Media package

It involves the creation of press reviews, social media content, interviews to promote the project's activities and outcomes. The media package will help to disseminate the project's results to a wider audience, including policymakers, stakeholders, and the general public.

Mapping Existing Food Waste Prevention And Outstanding Management Initiatives In Programme Countries And Eu

• Inspirational guide

A collection of good practices and initiatives for reducing food waste at the EU, national and regional levels. It is a valuable resource for individuals, businesses, and governments to get familiar with the existing initiatives and serve as a source of inspiration of implementing the new ones

• Didactic promo videos

Set of educational promotional videos that aim to inform and inspire the public about ways to reduce food waste. The purpose of this deliverable is to provide an engaging and accessible way for people to learn about the issue of food waste and how they can take action to reduce it

Roadmap For Cross Border Actions

• Stakeholder engagement model

Framework for collaboration and coordination among the various stakeholders involved in the effort to reduce food waste. It will also ensure that the efforts are aligned with the roadmap for cross-border actions, and that each stakeholder is contributing in a meaningful way towards the shared goal

• Guidelines to reduce food waste

Set of guidelines that show internal and external reasons causing food waste, benefits of taking action against food waste and possible solutions how food can be used and treated instead of being wasted for consumer, food service, retail, primary production, waste management

Wp 2 - Small Steps, Big Impact: Piloting Local Food Waste Reduction Initiatives

To develop and test solutions for reducing food waste through an interactive online platform with a variety of tools and resources, and through small-scale pilot actions tailored to the specific needs and opportunities of each region, with the ultimate goal of building a cross-border network of stakeholders and initiatives that can work together to reduce food waste in a sustainable and effective manner

Development Of Cross Border Platform For Food Waste Prevention And Management

Interactive platform that will be available to users across all participating regions. The platform will provide users with a range of resources and tools to help them tackle the issue of food waste

Testing Solutions Through Small-Scale Pilots

• N.8 small scale pilotactions

Specific initiatives implemented to test and evaluate new approaches to reducing food waste, such as awareness-raising campaigns, optimization of production and service processes.The goal is to identify approaches that can be scaled up and adopted more widely. At least 1 per each PP

• Promo materials (digital campaigns, posters and brochures) on reducing food waste

Various digital campaigns, posters, and brochures aimed at promoting the importance of reducing food waste and educating the public on practical tips and solutions to address the issue

Assessment And Follow Up

• Joint assessment report

In-depth report that includes information on each of the 8 pilot actions, detailing the methods used, the results obtained, and the environmental benefits achieved. The report also identifies strengths and weaknesses and providing recommendations for improvement

Wp 3 - Joining Forces to Fight Food Waste

To create a set of initiatives and activities that promote sustainable food practices in the Adriatic regions by engaging stakeholders and enhance actions that contribute to sustainable development and raise awareness about food waste. Ultimately, the goal is to create a lasting impact on food sustainability in the Programme area. 

Establishment of Adriatic Network

• Memorandum of Understanding

It is decree of collaboration that outlines the objectives of the network, the roles and responsibilities of each stakeholder. The MoU is an essential tool that ensures a coordinated and comprehensive approach to reducing food waste and its impacts on the environment

• Cross-border multi-stake holder meetings

The meetings will be organized 2 in Italy and 2 in Croatia. These meetings aim to share experiences and knowledge on food waste reduction, create new partnerships, and establish a network of stakeholders working towards the common goal of reducing food waste's environmental impact

Development of stakeholder specific capacity building

• Joint training programmes

A comprehensive toolbox that includes practical tools and programmes resources that can be easily applied during the capacity-building activities with different target groups

• n.7 local training

It refers to local capacity-building initiatives that will be organized in targeted regions following the joint training programmes and the materials jointly developed by PP4, PP6 and PP7. PP4 supports LP, PP2 and PP3, PP6 supports PP5 and PP7 supports PP8 in the implementation on local training

• Digital materials (videos, infographics, stories, reels)

It includes digital materials easily shareable on social media making them a valuable resource for cross-border education and capacity-building initiatives. Additionally, they will be used to complement in-person training

Organization of Food Waste Hackathons

• Manual for organizing hackathons

Detailed instructions for organizing successful food waste hackathons. It will cover various aspects of the hackathon planning process, such as defining the problem or challenge, identifying target participants, developing an agenda, providing mentorship and support, and evaluation

• n.1 Cross border Hackathon

A CB event that brings together participants from different regions to collaborate and develop innovative solutions to a specific challenge, with the goal of promoting cross-border cooperation and understanding

Organization of Cross-Border Ecofoodcycle

• n.2 editions of ECOFOODCYCLE week

2 (two) week-long event, one in Italy and one in Croatia focused on promoting food prevention, management and reduction, with the aim of raising awareness and encouraging individuals to take action to reduce food waste

Set of actions designed to promote the events to a wider audience. The media package will be tailored to each edition, showcasing the unique features and activities of each location
