Analysis of Climate Change Scenarios and Monitoring System
Analysis of Climate Change Scenarios and Monitoring System
This section outlines the results of the first phase of the CAMPUS project, focusing on the analysis of climate change impacts on UNESCO sites in Italy and Croatia. The project highlights the risks that climate change poses to the preservation of World Heritage. The goal is to develop a cross-border monitoring system to assess the vulnerability and resilience of each UNESCO site.
The deliverables document the process of analyzing impacts, vulnerability and adaptive capacity of the sites, and also include guidelines for a climate risk monitoring system. The final outcome of this phase is the creation of a tool that will support local authorities and UNESCO in planning effective interventions to protect these sites.
Final output to be achieved:
Monitoring System Tool for the UNESCO sites.

Climate Adaptation Plans for UNESCO Sites
Climate Adaptation Plans for UNESCO Sites
This section presents the results of the second phase of the CAMPUS project, focused on the development of specific climate adaptation plans for the involved Italian and Croatian UNESCO sites. Building on the analyses and monitoring system previously developed, the objective is to define concrete strategies to protect the Outstanding Universal Value of these sites from climate-related threats.
The process, characterized by a collaborative and cross-border approach, involves the active participation of local authorities, experts, and communities through Living Labs, aimed at gathering feedback and evaluating the feasibility of the proposed adaptation measures.
The outcomes of this phase include the creation of a participatory methodology, documentation of the Living Lab discussions, development of cross-border guidelines for countermeasures and the drafting of site-specific adaptation plans. These plans are essential to ensure the long-term preservation of the OUV of the sites in the face of climate challenges.
This is the final output to be achieved:

Implementation of Climate Change Adaptation Countermeasures in UNESCO Sites
Implementation of Climate Change Adaptation Countermeasures in UNESCO Sites
This section outlines the results of the final phase of the CAMPUS project, focusing on the implementation and testing of countermeasures for climate change adaptation in Italian and Croatian UNESCO sites. The adopted countermeasures primarily address three areas:
nature-based solutions and natural restoration, which were applied in the Veneto Po Delta Park and the Plitvice Lakes National Park to strengthen the resilience of natural ecosystems;
building restoration, with interventions in the cities of Ferrara, Monte Sant'Angelo, Trogir and Dubrovnik aimed at protecting cultural and historical heritage;
light infrastructure, designed to improve the accessibility and safety of the sites in response to climate change.
