Tackling littering along the Brenta River: ARPAV will takes part in the WASTEREDUCE workshop on 22 January

ARPAV will take part in the workshop “From theory to practice: proposed actions to tackle littering along the Brenta River”, scheduled for Thursday 22 January in Cittadella (Padua), as part of the Interreg Italy–Croatia WASTEREDUCE project.

During the workshop, the results of the analyses carried out in the Middle Brenta area will be presented. These included field observations, visitor questionnaires, stakeholder interviews and remote sensing experiments using drones and satellites. The surveys highlighted the presence of moderate to significant accumulations of waste, especially in the most frequented areas, with a prevalence of cigarette butts, plastic and paper materials, as well as critical issues related to insufficient signage and a lack of adequate waste disposal facilities.

The workshop, addressed to local administrations in the Middle Brenta area, local associations and stakeholders involved in waste management, aims to share and validate a collective action proposal. This proposal foresees coordinated interventions among municipalities, including the possible establishment of waste collection hubs and a dedicated awareness-raising campaign.

ARPAV will take part in the initiative by contributing to the technical and institutional discussion and supporting the collaborative process among authorities, with a view to preventing pollution and protecting river ecosystems. The day will conclude with a press conference presenting the outcomes of the work carried out.
