International Museum Day

On the occasion of International Museum Day, TRANS MARIS wishes to highlight the powerful role of museums in uniting rather than dividing communities, generations, and cultures.
This year’s ICOM theme, “Museums Uniting a Divided World”, strongly reflects the vision of TRANS MARIS — a European cross-border project connecting the Croatian and Italian Adriatic coasts through shared maritime heritage, youth engagement, and the transmission of traditional knowledge.
The sea that separates our shores is also the sea that connects us.
Through the cooperation of two maritime museums and their communities, TRANS MARIS reminds us that museums are not only guardians of memory, but active spaces of dialogue, learning, and transmission of intangible cultural heritage to future generations.
Today, we celebrate museums as bridges between people, places, and knowledge.
