M.A.R.E. TC FVG and University of Trieste Participated in the 5th Hydrogen Ecosystem North Adriatic Conference

17/11/2025

Representatives of project partners M.A.R.E. TC FVG and the University of Trieste, actively participated in the 5th Hydrogen Ecosystem North Adriatic Conference, held on 12–13 November 2025 in Nova Gorica and Gorizia. The event once again confirmed the strategic relevance and rapid development of the North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley (NAHV), evolving from a traditional linear supply chain into a fully interconnected cross-border value network.

This value network brings together industry, research institutions, public authorities, investors and civil society, enabling joint progress, shared risk management, integration of knowledge, and accelerated deployment of hydrogen-based solutions. Strong political, financial, and institutional commitment from Slovenia, Croatia and Italy (Friuli Venezia Giulia) was reaffirmed, aligned with European Green Deal objectives.

During the conference, participants engaged in discussions on key topics such as innovation-driven competitiveness, funding mechanisms, technology readiness, and comparison among European hydrogen valleys. The dialogue also pointed toward a broader hydrogen-driven energy transition, exploring future geopolitical implications, cross-regional collaboration models and emerging investment opportunities.

Active contribution of TransH2 partners

Both participating partners contributed directly to the knowledge exchange:

  • Prof. Taccani (University of Trieste) delivered a presentation focusing on technological pathways supporting the adoption of hydrogen solutions in the maritime sector and their alignment with regional development strategies.

  • M.A.R.E. TC FVG engaged in technical and policy-oriented sessions, sharing expertise and reinforcing the link between NAHV and the cross-border maritime and logistics ecosystem, especially through the ongoing TransH2 project, which aims at building competencies, strengthening cooperation and defining operational hydrogen-based solutions for the Upper Adriatic maritime domain.

The conference highlighted that the North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley is evolving in both scale and maturity, progressing through systemic, long-term and value-driven collaboration, rather than isolated initiatives.

The participation of TransH2 partners demonstrates a continuous commitment to advancing hydrogen innovation, knowledge exchange and ecosystem integration, supporting the transition toward a sustainable, competitive and climate-neutral Adriatic region.
