Defining a long-term promotion strategy for its tourism products

06/08/2026

TOFOLA has reached another important milestone with the development of a shared promotion strategy for the four new tourism products created across the project areas.

The strategy builds on a common vision: connecting forests, waterways, lagoons and coastal landscapes through the historical relationship between timber, maritime heritage and the communities that have shaped these territories over time. This Forest-to-Sea narrative provides a shared identity for the four itineraries, while allowing each destination to highlight its own distinctive character.

One shared story to tell

From the historical timber routes connecting the forests of Carnia with the Marano Lagoon, to the Forest-Wine-Sea experience linking Motovun Forest with the Istrian coast, each itinerary builds on local resources and stories.

In Veneto, cycling connects lowland forests with the Caorle Lagoon, while in the Po Delta maritime heritage meets environmental interpretation and green innovation.

Together, these experiences promote a slower and more meaningful way of discovering the Northern Adriatic, combining cultural heritage, nature, local gastronomy and community engagement.

Promoting tourism with sustainability and inclusion at its core

The promotion strategy also places particular attention on sustainability and accessibility. Rather than treating these principles as additional features, TOFOLA integrates them into the way the tourism products are communicated and experienced.

Slow mobility, biodiversity protection, local communities and SMEs are central elements of the approach, alongside clear information on routes, mobility requirements and accessibility solutions. This allows visitors to make informed choices while supporting more inclusive and responsible tourism experiences.

The strategy therefore provides a common framework that can continue to support the visibility and development of the four tourism products beyond the end of the project, strengthening cooperation between partners, destinations, tourism operators and local stakeholders.
