The second out of three workshops on the subject of ecological production and eco-labelling, which are foreseen by the TAKE IT SLOW project, was held on November 29, 2021. The University of Zadar organized the workshop and the goal was to raise awareness and knowledge and share best practices in ecological agriculture and production.

The workshop participants had an opportunity to listen to the lectures prepared by Ms. Ana Marušić Lisac from Biotechnicon, a project management company, and control and certification body for ecological agriculture in Croatia. This was also an opportunity for a qualified discussion.

Ms. Marušić Lisac gave a presentation on technical aspects of ecological agriculture, in which she explained the role and the details of the certification process. The lecture included the specifics of the applicable regulations covering plant production, animal husbandry as well as the processing of ecological products. This lecture was aimed at producers and potential producers, intending to convert their agricultural production into ecological, employees of the local support services and scientific institutions, as well as students.

The next workshop will be held in January 2022. This workshop will emphasize the subject of value-adding, especially focusing on the marketing issues and joint initiatives, which can help producers to achieve and enhance the growth of their production volumes, as well as their revenues. It will also cover the importance of local production, elements of short supply chains, and value-adding in the distribution channels, to fulfill the project’s goals and expected results.
