DEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF SIBENIK-KNIN COUNTY: THROUGH SLOW TOURISM TO SUSTAINABLE AND SMART DEVELOPMENT

Published on 30/06/2023 (last modified 03/07/2023)

The Development Agency of Šibenik-Knin County marked completion of TAKE IT SLOW project with innovative event and workshops dedicated to the local stakeholders and media.

Within the project, numerous activities and pilot projects were carried out that support indigenous and sustainable products and focus on initiatives that raise the level of economic and territorial development and at the same time preserve and valorize our natural assets and cultural heritage.

The major activity that was carried out through the project is the establishment of the open-air museum „Murter Views", an educational trail located on the Gradina peninsula near the archaeological beach and the former ancient city of Colentum. By arranging this location, Murter received a tourist product that revives a less visited part of the island and thus attracts visitors interested in history, local tradition, and cultural heritage.

During the final week of project implementation, specialized workshops dedicated to local stakeholders and media on topics from sustainable projects in tourism, digital marketing, and digital content were organized.

As the final activity of the project, the Development Agency organized a presentation of the project at the Adriatic Business Center and then an innovative trip for media representatives: a boat ride through the Šibenik Canal to Skradin and Plastovo with a visit to a local shellfish farm and then a visit to a vineyard of autochthonous wine varieties with a final autochthonous dinner with local ingredients in the "courtyard" in the hinterland of Skradin. Bearing in mind the importance of the media in the promotion of sustainable concepts, the goal is to put even more emphasis on local and autochthonous producers and sustainable, green, and smart stories in the county.

Tourism is an experience that should occupy all the senses, and when we add the title TAKE IT SLOW to tourism, then it is local, indigenous, seasonal, unique, and self-sustaining. Why? Because in this way we encourage the production of domestic products, promote local natural and cultural heritage, increase their value, and create a strong, self-sustainable, and authentic destination.
