STREAM presented in Poreč-Parenzo (HR)

On 13 October 2020, the Town of Poreč-Parenzo held a press conference to present STREAM project to the media and the general public.

The Mayor Loris Peršurić proudly pointed out that besides developing a flood risk management plan, the Town of Poreč will enable its public fire department to become one of the first public fire brigades in the Republic of Croatia fully equipped to act in flood crisis situations with almost instantaneous response capability.

The project manager Dunja Babić presented the project main actions that include: the supply of new equipment for the Poreč Public Fire Brigade; organisation of education activities, the creation of a the flood cadastre, as well as a mapping of the flood risks and hazards in the area of the Town of Poreč-Parenzo and of an international flood platform; finally, the setting up of a smart urban drainage system. In case of extreme weather events such as storms accompanied by an large amount of rainfall and gusts of wind, capacity to act in the above-mentioned crisis situations and appropriate equipment are of crucial importance for minimizing potential harmful consequences.

This is exactly the biggest benefit of this project that the Town of Poreč-Parenzo will gain by taking part in the project.
