PESTOUR Stakeholder Workshops Launch: Clear Rules and Listening for the Future of Pescatourism
How can we protect our sea while concretely supporting the economy of those who work on it every day?
Today, regulatory uncertainty and bureaucratic complexity represent the biggest hurdles for those wishing to innovate within the fisheries sector. All too often, the idea of diversifying traditional fishing into sustainable fishing tourism (pescatourism) clashes with the fear of making a misstep due to confusing laws or a lack of clear legal protection.
This is precisely the challenge that PESTOUR was created to address, a strategic project under the Interreg Italy-Croatia cross-border cooperation programme.
Together, the Municipality of Lizzanello, Cooperativa Sociale Rinascita, and the City of Krk have launched a joint journey to streamline procedures, share best practices, and build the regulatory and operational tools needed to protect fishers.
The project has just launched, and the voice of those who live and breathe the sea every day is vital to steering this initiative in the right direction. The upcoming meetings are open to all sector operators, stakeholders, and interested citizens.
