Local event in Castelbottaccio: a discussion on outmigration
19/12/2024
On December 14, 2024, the Municipality of Castelbottaccio hosted a local event titled "Inner Areas and Demographic Challenges: A Discussion on Outmigration”, an insightful opportunity to discuss on innovative policies and strategies to address outmigration, featuring presentations on the M.A.R.I.O. project's activities and migration trends in the Molise region.
With the participation of the Mayor of Castelbottaccio, Mario Disertore, the workshop welcomed members of the local community to address the issue of outmigration linked to depopulation. The so-called inner and marginal areas are, above all, rural territories. These areas share similar challenges across advanced regions of the world: depopulation, aging populations, and structural deficiencies. Among these, the loss of young people - often highly educated human capital - stands out as the most severe issue, with long-term impacts on the resilience of these communities.
In addition to the dialogue with citizens, the event featured key contributions from Teresa Del Giudice, Professor at the University of Naples Federico II, who spoke on integrated policies for youth, and Sara Roversi, President of the Future Food Institute, who provided insights on holistic regeneration.
The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session and networking opportunities, fostering discussions on creating a sustainable and vibrant future for inner areas.
