Project specific objectives

Our goal is to establish advanced biosecurity framework for the Adriatic through innovative aquaculture and integrated mariculture approaches based on environmental, diseases prevention monitoring tools and flat oyster production guidelines that will be shared with SMEs thanks to administrative support. We aim to enhance consumer perception by emphasizing nutritional quality and safety of aquaculture products with marketing evaluations, bioeconomic models, and farming practices dissemination.

Project main outputs

The project aims to improve aquaculture practices and sustainability in the Adriatic through several key components: an AI-based risk assessment tool, a Progressive Web Application (PWA) for real-time monitoring and data management, and an integrated bioeconomic model for optimized decision-making. These tools will form a new biosecurity framework for proactive disease prevention and sustainable practices, enhancing ecosystem resilience and productivity. Within the first year after project completion, the partners will encourage organizations managing aquaculture facilities to adopt these new technologies and methodologies, creating a transformative impact on the sector.

About section

About

MARINET tackles specific common challenges of the Adriatic aquaculture aiming to improve biosecurity, environmental sustainability and economic viability of Adriatic cross border regions by leveraging innovative welfare fish farming and testing integrated mariculture approaches and sharing them with SMEs with the collaboration of administrative support on regional and national level.

Our focus is environmental monitoring and disease prevention by developing and utilizing state-of-the-art tools like AI-driven environmental and disease risk alert to safeguard marine ecosystems and implementing advanced vaccines and robust protocols to minimize disease risks in fish farming and bioeconomic models to analyse economic viability and benefits. At the same time innovations such as spat collectors for Flat Oyster Production and integrated mariculture assessments will be done to create comprehensive guidelines to optimize oyster farming to diversify production and enhance market competitiveness. The scientific partners’ results from the previous AdriAquaNet project will be capitalised, upgraded with the commitment to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by sharing our research, guidelines, and technological advancements and best practices supported by administrative collaboration. Furthermore, we aim to elevate consumer confidence by emphasizing the nutritional quality and safety of aquaculture products through marketing evaluation, assessing and improving product perception.

Join us in revolutionizing aquaculture in the Adriatic, ensuring a sustainable, secure, and prosperous future for all.
