HABI project raising awareness event - On the protection of NATURA 2000 areas

The event "Adriatic Posidonia - Italy and Croatia united for the protection of the territory" took place on Monday, October 21, in Mola di Bari, with the participation of partner organizations and a presentation by Elvira Tarsitano, president of the Association of Biologists of Puglia.
The event was held in the halls of Palazzo Roberti in Mola di Bari. It was organized as part of the HABI project, in which the Municipality of Mola di Bari is a partner, along with the lead partner, the Municipality of Conversano, and the cross-border partners, Dubrovnik Development Agency DURA and the Public Institution Lokrum Reserve.
Speakers included Giuseppe Colonna, mayor of Mola di Bari, Angelo Rotolo and Marco Ungaro, municipal councilors for Tourism and Cultural Policies, and Community Policies, respectively, Lucia Parchitelli, councilor and president of the 6th Regional Council Commission for Community Policies of the Puglia Region, Giuseppe Lovascio, mayor of Conversano, Ivan Saltaric, project manager of Dubrovnik Development Agency DURA, and Ozana Domijan, project manager for the Lokrum Reserve.
In the second part of the meeting, Nicola Leone, chief of the Local Police of Mola di Bari, and Francesco Vitulli, project manager for the Municipality of Mola di Bari, shared local experiences on the enhancement and protection of Posidonia. Elvira Tarsitano, vice president of the Association of Biologists of Puglia, spoke about sustainable future prospects for Posidonia.
To close the event, teachers and students from the Da Vinci - Majorana High School of Mola di Bari presented the project that earned them a bronze medal in the national competition "Mad for Science."
