WP1 - Climate Change Adaptation Governance

The Specific Objective is to develop joint Climate Change adaptation strategies for coastal wetlands through an ecosystem-based approach engaging local stakeholders and administrations. 

The achieved output is a Climate Change adaptation strategy for coastal wetlands, jointly developed amongst project partners through technical meetings, stakeholder engagement, and monitoring and assessment of pilot activities.

A1.2: Wetland Contracts development/update with a focus on Climate Change Adaptation

WP2 - Climate Change Adaptation in Action

The Specific Objectives are:

> to develop joint solutions for implementing site-specific coastal wetland Climate Change adaptation measures through an active involvement of local stakeholders and citizens, in order to demonstrate the added value of taking action in the framework of a Wetland Contract.

> to engage local communities and interest groups to build trust between project partners and local stakeholders. Diverse communicative tools will raise awareness about the project and its objectives; additionally, citizens’ involvement in the production of data (citizen science) will help in overcoming traditional barriers in engaging non-institutional stakeholders.

The achieved outputs are:

> to identify Climate Change adaptation measures through both a Citizen Science App,

> to implement 8 pilot coastal wetlands with an active involvement of local stakeholders and visitors.

WP3 - Transferring of Wetland Governance Approach for Climate Change Adaptation

The Specific Objectives are:

> to spread the role and features of Weltland Contracts for Climate Change adaptation through public events and capacity building initiatives at the local and cross-border level.

> to raise awareness and build capacity about the potential of Wetland Contracts for Climate Change adaptation and make the project visible, targeting a wider public of Italian and Croatian coastal wetland, e.g., managers and international stakeholders.

The achieved output is the Wetland Contract in action for Climate Change adaptation.
