2026 World Wetlands Day at the Special Ornithological Reserve in Palud

The PP5 Natura Histrica organ guided tour at the Palud – Palù Special Ornithological Reserve, on the occasion of World Wetlands Day, which took place on Saturday, February 7th, 2026. Despite the unfavourable weather conditions, attendance was very good, and participants showed great interest. People actively participated in the tour, asked questions, and expressed particular interest in the importance of wetland habitats, the bird species found at Palud, and ways they can contribute to nature conservation. Feedback was very positive, and visitors highlighted that they gained valuable information about biodiversity and the role of Palud as an important protected natural area.

During the tour, participants were introduced to GREWApp, a mobile application developed within the GREW Project. The application enables active public involvement as a citizen science tool, namely, to collect data on fields that are important for monitoring the condition of wetland habitats. Through the application, users could record observations related to biodiversity and environmental indicators, thus contributing to improved management and the long-term protection of the Palud area.
